Apple Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    2 1/2 c. shredded apples
Preparation
    Combine sugar, water, cinnamon and nutmeg in a saucepan, stir well.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
    Stir in butter.
    Set aside.
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
    Cut shortening into flour mixture with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
    Turn dough out onto a floured surface, roll out to 12 x 9-inch rectangle.
    Spread apples over dough and roll up in jelly roll.
    Cut 1 inch slices (12). Place cut side down in cake pan.
    Pour sugar syrup around slices. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
