Spanish-Style Red Beans 'N Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. long grain white rice (not converted or instant rice)
    4 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    3 to 4 Tbsp. Crisco shortening
Preparation
    Put rice in a medium bowl.
    Half fill with lukewarm water. Stir rice with your hands until the water clouds.
    Pour off milky rice water.
    Repeat and rinse rice 3 to 4 more times.
    Set aside.
