English Butter Toffee Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    24 saltine crackers, unsalted tops
    1 c. (2 sticks) butter
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    pecan halves
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Arrange saltines right side up in a single layer on bottom of pan. Melt butter and sugar in a medium size pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
    Boil 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
    Pour over crackers; spread evenly with spatula.
    Bake 5 minutes (if crackers shift, rearrange with a fork).
    Cool in pan on rack 10 minutes or just until top is set. Sprinkle with chocolate.
    Let stand about 5 minutes until chocolate becomes shiny and soft, then spread evenly over top. Cool completely.
    Cut into 2 x 1-inch bars.
    Place a pecan half on each piece.
    Store covered in refrigerator.
