Waldorf Red Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    buttermilk (small amount)
    1 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy.
    Add eggs and beat. Make paste
    of coloring, cocoa, vanilla, salt, flour and buttermilk.
    Mix vinegar and soda together.
    Add to just blended in.
    Bake in 2 (9-inch) round pans for 25 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0. Let cool and split layers.
    Frost with Waldorf Frosting.
