Fried Pie Crust - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    7 1/2 tsp. ice cold water
Preparation
    Mix flour, salt and sugar.
    Cut in shortening with fork or pastry blender until it is the consistency of small peas. Sprinkle with ice water, blending with fork.
    It may require more or less water.
    Divide dough into small pieces; roll each on floured board.
    Lay 5-inch saucer on dough and cut around it. Place 1 tablespoon of the filling on the dough; fold over so filling is evenly distributed.
    Press edges gently with fork, but do not puncture dough.
    Put about 2 inches of oil or shortening in large skillet.
    Heat to 365\u00b0.
    Cook 1 or 2 pieces at a time. Brown on one side, then turn and brown the other.
    Drain.
    Yields 11 or 12 pies.
