Caramel Cooked Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box light brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 sticks butter or oleo
Preparation
    Cook in a large thick pot the sugar, milk, butter and soda to a soft ball stage on candy thermometer.
    Add vanilla and beat on high until it begins to thicken and loses its gloss.
    If you beat it too long, set the bowl in a pot of real hot water and it will soften back up.
