Southern Turnips - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. turnips, peeled and cubed
    3 medium new potatoes (unpeeled), cubed
    1 bay leaf
    4 c. water
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 Tbsp. bacon drippings
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/8 tsp. red pepper
    2 Tbsp. fresh parsley
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients in Dutch oven.
    Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer until tender.
    Drain well; remove bay leaf. Saute onion in bacon drippings until tender.
    Add turnips, potatoes, salt, pepper and red pepper; toss gently.
    Spoon into serving dish; sprinkle with parsley.
    Yield:
    6 to 8 servings.
