Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. sliced cucumbers
    1 (.4 oz.) bottle Lily Lime (calcium hydroxide; get at the drugstore)
    3 lb. sugar
    1 qt. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/2 c. mixed spices or pickle seasoning
    1 gal. cold water
Preparation
    Add cucumbers to water with lime mixed in.
    Soak for 24 hours. Rinse.
    Soak for 3 hours in clear water; drain.
    Mix sugar, vinegar, salt and spices and add cucumbers.
    Leave overnight. Drain out syrup and heat syrup to a boil, then add cucumbers and cook for 45 minutes.
    Put in jars and seal.
    (Add a little green food coloring to make them look pretty.)
