Vegetarian Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. split peas
1 onion, chopped
4 carrots
2 stalks celery
1 bay leaf
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. thyme
10 c. water
Preparation

Put all ingredients in a soup kettle.
Simmer, covered, for 3 to 4 hours.
Or cook in slow cooker 8 to 10 hours on low, 3 to 4 hours on high.
Before serving, put the soup through a food processor or blender.
Add milk to cool when serving.
When serving, add cooked barley or grated cheese for a complete protein.
Serves 10 to 12.
