Mom'S Apple Molasses Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or oleo
    1 c. sugar
    2/3 c. molasses
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. soda
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. grated lemon rind
    1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. candied red cherries
    1 c. applesauce
Preparation
    Cream together butter, sugar, eggs and molasses.
    Add dry ingredients.
    Stir in lemon rind, walnuts, raisins, cherries and applesauce.
    Mix well.
    Divide batter and put into 2 greased and floured bread pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or until done. Cool and frost with buttercream frosting and sprinkle with candied cherries, chopped walnuts or silver shots as desired for Christmas.
    Makes 2 loaves.
