Homemade Pretzels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. warm water
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    4 1/2 c. flour
    1 egg
    coarse salt
Preparation
    Combine water, yeast and sugar in a small bowl.
    Set aside for 1 hour.
    Gradually add flour to form a stiff dough.
    Knead 10 minutes until smooth.
    Place dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place 1 hour, until dough is doubled in bulk. Pinch off dough the size of a golf ball.
    Roll into a 15-inch rope with hands.
    Make a loop, bringing left end over to the right and the right under the left.
    Bring ends over and down.
    Press ends against the sides of the loop.
    Preheat oven to 425\u00b0 while forming the pretzels.
    Place pretzels on a baking sheet, leaving spreading room.
    Brush with beaten egg to which a little water has been added.
    Sprinkle with coarse salt.
    Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
    Makes 24.
