Ingredients

2 Tbsp. corn syrup
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
5 Tbsp. margarine or butter
16 slices wheat sandwich bread, crusts removed
5 eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. sour cream (optional)
1 1/2 c. strawberries or 10 oz. frozen, unsweetened strawberries (optional)
Preparation

The night before, combine corn syrup, brown sugar and margarine in a small, heavy saucepan.
Heat, stirring, until bubbly.
Pour syrup mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Nestle the bread slices into the syrup, making 2 layers.
Mix together eggs, cinnamon, milk and vanilla.
Pour over the bread.
Cover pan and refrigerate overnight.
