Pineapple Cheese Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can crushed pineapple
    2 envelopes nonflavored gelatin
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    3/4 c. sugar
    juice of 1 lemon
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 large carton Cool Whip
Preparation
    Drain juice from pineapple and add sugar into a saucepan.
    Heat until sugar is dissolved.
    Cut up cream cheese into small pieces and add to pineapple juice mixture.
    Dissolve gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water and add to syrup mixture.
    Add pineapple, lemon juice and chopped nuts (optional).
    Red and/or green cherries can be added for color.
    Fold mixture into Cool Whip.
    Chill in refrigerator at least 12 hours.
