Buttermilk Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda (scant)
    2 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Mix the buttermilk and soda; let stand 3 minutes.
    Add sugar and butter.
    Cook to 238\u00b0 over medium heat in a heavy aluminum pan, as it will burn easily.
    Stir constantly.
    Cool to 125\u00b0 to 130\u00b0 without stirring.
    Add vanilla and 1 scant cup nuts.
    Beat until creamy.
    Pour into buttered flat pan.
