Lemon Pecan Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter or margarine
    1 lb. sugar (2 1/4 c.)
    4 c. flour (plain), sift before measuring
    1 lb. white raisins
    1 lb. candied cherries and pineapple mix
    4 c. pecans, chopped
    3 Tbsp. lemon extract
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    6 eggs
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar; add extract, egg yolks, lightly beaten, then add flour to which baking powder and salt have been added.
    Add fruit and nuts (floured).
    Mix thoroughly together. Fold in egg whites beaten stiff, but moist.
    Bake in 300\u00b0 oven for 1 hour, then reduce heat to 250\u00b0 for second hour and 15 minutes. Grease and flour pan.
