Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
2 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. margarine or butter, softened
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 c. oatmeal
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. wheat germ
1 c. flaked coconut
1 c. nonfat dry milk
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream butter and brown sugar; add eggs and vanilla.
Combine 1 1/4 cups flour, baking soda and salt and add to creamed mixture.
Beat until well blended.
Stir in remaining 1 cup flour, the oatmeal, chocolate chips and nuts.
Add one optional ingredient, if desired.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto cookie sheets.
Bake 10 to 15 minutes (10 minutes makes a soft cookie, 15 minutes makes a crisp cookie); cool a minute on the cookie sheet.
Remove from cookie sheet and cool on a rack.
Makes about 6 dozen.
