Wakulla Springs Navy Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried navy beans
    1 can beef consomme
    4 potatoes, diced
    1/4 c. oleo
    2 c. chopped ham
    salt and pepper to taste
    5 c. water
    1 chicken bouillon cube
    2 onions, diced
    4 carrots, diced
    3 bay leaves
Preparation
    Soak beans overnight.
    Place beans, water, consomme and bouillon cube in a large pot.
    Bring to boil and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
    Saute onions in oleo until partially cooked.
    Add to soup with remaining ingredients.
    Add more water if needed.
    Simmer until vegetables are done.
    Makes 8 servings.
