Old Fashioned Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. thinly sliced unpared cucumbers
    6 medium white onions, sliced
    1 green pepper, cut in strips
    1 sweet red pepper, cut in strips
    3 cloves garlic, crushed
    1/3 c. coarse medium salt
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. white vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Combine vegetables, garlic and salt. Cover with ice cubes and mix thoroughly.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Drain well.
    Combine remaining ingredients.
    Pour over vegetables.
    Bring just to a boil. Seal at once in hot sterilized jars.
    Chill before serving. Makes 8 pints.
