English Brown Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. beef cubes
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 tsp. paprika
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. lemon juice
    flour, salt and pepper
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    2 c. tomato juice
    1 1/2 c. water
    4 small onions
    2 c. diced potatoes
    3 carrots, sliced
    3/4 c. celery
Preparation
    Dredge meat in seasoned flour.
    Melt shortening in hot skillet and brown meat.
    Reduce heat.
    Add paprika, allspice, sugar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, tomato juice and water.
    Cover and cook over low heat for 1 1/2 hours.
    Stir occasionally, adding more water if needed.
