Spiced Pear Jam - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. chopped or coarsely ground peeled pears (5 1/2 lb.)
    4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in a large heavy pot.
    Simmer uncovered for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until thickened.
    Stir frequently.
    Remove from heat and skim off foam.
    Pour hot jam into hot jars leaving 1/4-inch space.
    Adjust caps.
    Process for 10 minutes in boiling water.
    Yield:
    6 half pints.
