Mom'S Spicy Pumpkin Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. canned pumpkin
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    3 egg yolks, beaten
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 envelope unflavored gelatin
    1/4 c. cold water
    3 egg whites
    1/4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Combine pumpkin, brown sugar, milk, beaten egg yolks, salt and spices in top of double boiler.
    Cook about 10 minutes, stirring often.
    Soften gelatin in cold water.
    Dissolve in pumpkin mixture. Pour into medium size bowl.
    Chill just until beginning to set. Beat egg whites until foamy.
    Add sugar 1 tablespoon at a time and beat well after each addition until meringue stands in soft peaks. Fold into pumpkin mixture.
    Pour into baked pie shell.
    Chill until firm enough to cut.
