Plantation Peach Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. plain flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    2/3 c. light cream
Preparation
    First, cut up sweetened peaches, about 8 cups.
    Sift dry ingredients; cut in brown sugar and shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Add pecans.
    Combine egg and cream.
    Add to flour shortening mixture.
    Mix until all flour is moist.
    Spread dough in 2 greased round layer cake pans.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
    Place peaches between layers.
    Top with whipped cream.
