Tomato Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. oil
    2 medium onions, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    2 lb. ground beef
    3 (No. 2) cans tomatoes
    1/2 c. water
    2 bay leaves
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/4 c. chopped parsley
    1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
    2 tsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. basil
Preparation
Heat oil in a large kettle or Dutch oven.
Add onions and garlic; saute 5 minutes.
Add the ground beef; cook until brown, breaking the meat up with a fork until it cooks.
    Stir in the remaining ingredients.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cook over low heat until it is thick and rich, 45 minutes to an hour. Remove the bay leaves; skim off the fat.
This makes about 10 cups, plenty for 2 hearty family dishes.
    It freezes well.
