Heavenly Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 or 3 large sweet onions, sliced and cut in 1/2
    1 1/2 sticks butter
    10 or more slices French bread, buttered on both sides
    1/2 c. milk
    2 or 3 tsp. soy sauce
    1 1/2 lb. fresh or canned mushrooms, sliced
    1/2 lb. Swiss cheese, shredded
    1 can cream of chicken soup
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    The day before you plan to serve this dish, saute onions and mushrooms in butter.
    Arrange a layer of onions and mushrooms in a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Top with Swiss cheese, then add layer of bread and pour over all a mixture of soup, milk, salt, pepper and soy sauce.
    Refrigerate overnight.
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Blend liquid ingredients with a blender or hand mixer.
