Ingredients

1 qt. water
2 lb. hamburger meat
2 onions
4 cloves garlic
2 Tbsp. vinegar
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 large bay leaf
5 whole or 1/4 tsp. allspice
5 whole or 1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. red pepper
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 1/2 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1 can kidney beans (optional)
Preparation

Cook hamburger; drain.
Add water and bring to a boil.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer, covered, 3 hours (uncover during last hour).
Remove garlic and bay leaf.
Good served over spaghetti noodles or rice.
