Applesauce Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    5 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. cloves
    2 pkg. raisins
    1 pkg. figs
    1 qt. applesauce
    1 c. mixed candied fruit
    1 c. jam
    1 qt. nuts
    1 c. wine
    1 bottle maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add applesauce, flour and all the fruits and nuts, dredged in flour.\tMix well and put in tube pans, then put whole cherries on top.
    Cook in slow oven.
    This makes 2 fruitcakes.
