Sopaipillas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    2/3 c. cold water
    oil for deep fat frying
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients.
    Add shortening and cut in with knives until blended.
    Gradually add enough cold water to make a pastry consistency.
    Turn out on floured board and knead until smooth. Cover and let rest for 5 minutes.
    Roll out onto board in a 12 x 15-inch rectangle, 1/8 to 1/16-inch thickness.
    Cut into 2 x 3-inch pieces or 3-inch squares.
    Cover with wax paper.
    Heat oil.
    Drop squares, turning 3 or 4 times while frying.
    Drain and serve. Serve with honey.
