Fannie'S Dumplins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1 egg
    scant 1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients and shortening until it reaches the texture of cornmeal.
    Make a well in flour; break egg into this and add milk.
    Beat in center with beater, then work all flour into liquid with spatula until stiff.
    Roll paper thin using lots of flour on board.
    Cut into small pieces and drop into boiling broth.
    Stir on top only.
    Cook 20 minutes.
    Test doneness.
