Apple Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 bushel apples
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2 sticks cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. star anise
Preparation
    Peel and core apples to make 2 1/2 cups cooked applesauce. Put through colander and put in crock-pot.
    Mix in the rest of ingredients; do not cover.
    Cook in crock-pot for 36 hours on low. Place in pint jars or freeze.
