Jalapeno-Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    5 lb. Russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
    8 c. chicken broth
    1 tsp. comino
    1/4 to 1/2 c. coarsely chopped pickled jalapenos and juice
    pinch of baking soda to prevent curdling
    4 c. evaporated milk
    salt and pepper to taste
    sour cream and chopped green onions (garnish)
Preparation
    Ham meat doesn't fry much, so put grease in with it when you fry it.
    Take the meat out and pour the grease in a bowl.
    Sprinkle sugar on the hot frying pan.
    Pour about 1/2 cup of water on the skillet.
    It'll fry like lightning, so just cook it until it's hot, about 1 minute.
    Pour it over the grease in the bowl and when you get your red.
    Makes about 1 cup.
