Creamy Cheddar Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. water
    2 c. diced potatoes
    1/2 c. carrot slices
    1/2 c. chopped broccoli
    1/4 c. chopped onions
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/3 c. flour
    2 c. milk
    2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 c. cubed cooked ham
Preparation
    Boil the vegetables in the 2 cups of water until vegetables are soft (do not drain).
    Make white sauce in separate pan.
    Melt butter and stir in flour over a hot burner.
    Add milk and cheese. Stir until melted.
    Add undrained vegetables and chopped ham. Add 1/2 teaspoon of pepper to this mixture.
    Continue heating until uniformly hot, without allowing mixture to boil.
