Deep-Fried Bowties - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. buttermilk
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter flavored Crisco, melted
    confectioners sugar
    2 egg yolks
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 tsp. orange peel, grated
    3/4 c. plus 4 to 6 Tbsp. flour
Preparation
    In small bowl combine buttermilk, egg yolk, sugar, vanilla, orange peel and salt.
    Slowly blend in melted Crisco and stir in 3/4 cup flour.
    Place dough on floured board and knead in enough remaining flour to make soft dough.
    On floured board, roll dough into a 12 x 12-inch square.
    Cut into 4 x 1 1/2-inch strips.
    Make 1-inch slit down the middle of each strip and pull one end through slit to make bow.
    In deep saucepan, heat 2 inches of Crisco to 375\u00b0.
    Fry several at a time for about 1 1/2 minutes.
    Drain on paper towel.
    Sift confectioners sugar over both sides.
