Lasagne Sausage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. sausage links, cut in 1-inch pieces
    3/4 c. chopped onions
    1 clove garlic, minced
    3 c. tomato juice
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1 bay leaf
    1 (12 oz.) carton cottage cheese
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. Parmesan cheese, divided
    2 c. Mozzarella cheese, divided
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 (6 oz.) pkg. lasagne noodles
Preparation
    Brown sausage over low heat in a heavy skillet; drain sausage on paper towels.
    Reserve 1/4 cup drippings.
    Saute onion and garlic in drippings until crisp.
    Return sausage to skillet.
    Stir in tomato juice, tomato sauce, sugar, salt and bay leaf.
    Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour.
    Discard bay leaf.
    Combine cottage cheese, egg, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper; set aside.
    Cook noodles; drain.
    Spread about 1 tablespoon cheese mixture on each noodle.
    Roll each noodle, jelly roll style, beginning at narrow end.
    Spread 1 cup sausage sauce in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Arrange rolls, seam side down, in sauce.
    Spoon with remaining Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
    Makes 8 servings.
