Katie'S Sweet Potatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 sweet potatoes (about 2 lb.)
    boiling water
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
    1/4 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Wash potatoes.
    Place in large saucepan.
    Cover with boiling water; bring back to boiling.
    Reduce heat; simmer, covered about 30 minutes.
    Drain; let cool.
    Peel and halve lengthwise.
    In large skillet, combine butter, salt, sugar and 1/4 cup water; stir over low heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves.
    Boil uncovered 3 minutes.
    Reduce heat.
    Add potatoes and pecans; simmer uncovered 5 minutes, basting often with syrup.
    Serve potatoes with syrup and nuts spooned over them.
