Cherry Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. soft margarine
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    1 (1 lb.) can pitted sour cherries
    1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. fruit syrup plus water
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk; beat until smooth.
    Pour into 9 x 5 x 3-inch cake pan or 9 x 13-inch or 2-quart casserole baking dish.
    Spoon drained cherries over batter.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Pour fruit juice and water (1 cup) over top.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
