Grandmaw'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. molasses
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. ginger
    1 c. sugar
    1 beaten egg
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and molasses.
    Beat egg with buttermilk; add to creamed mixture.
    Add dry ingredients, 1/3 at a time; mix well after each addition.
    Add more flour (if needed) to make stiff dough.
    Fill bowl about 1/2 full of flour.
    Place dough in center and knead.
    Pinch off dough size of a peach and place on cookie sheet.
    Flatten a little.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until light brown.
