Kolaches - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 or 2 yeast cakes
    2 c. milk (lukewarm)
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    3 egg yolks
    5 or 6 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. lemon peel, grated (optional)
Preparation
    Make a sponge of yeast, milk and about 3 cups of flour. Cover and
    let
    rise for 1 hour.
    Add shortening, sugar, salt and
    egg yolks.
    Add
    flour
    gradually and work with a wooden paddle or your mixer until the dough is smooth and not sticky. You may not have to use all the flour measured out.
