Hungarian Goulash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    3 c. thinly sliced onions
    2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. paprika
    1 1/2 lb. beef, cubed
    4 1/2 tsp. paprika
    3 c. water
    4 to 6 potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
Preparation
    In covered skillet, pour oil, place onions and salt and saute until brown.
    Add 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika and meat.
    Mix well. Cover and simmer, over very low heat, for 1 hour.
    Add 4 1/2 teaspoons paprika, water and potatoes to meat.
    Cover; simmer, over low heat, for 45 to 60 minutes, until tender.
    May add more water as needed for gravy.
