English Toffee - cooking recipe

2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. oleo
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. white Karo
1 c. nuts
chocolate chips
Preparation

Bring to a boil all ingredients, except nuts and chocolate chips, until mixture starts to change color. Lower temperature. Stir constantly until brittle 310\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
Add 1 cup nuts. Pour into greased cookie sheet.
When firm, add chocolate chips on top and spread.
When cold, break into pieces.
