Birthday Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. sifted flour
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    4 egg whites, beaten
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift flour and baking powder together. Cream shortening and sugar. Add alternately the flour and the milk. Last, fold in the beaten egg whites. Bake in a large pan in a moderate oven at 375\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
