Lime Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    9 lb. pickles, sliced
    2 gal. water
    2 c. agriculture hydrated lime
    2 qt. white vinegar
    4 1/2 lb. granulated sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. celery seed (rounded)
    1 tsp. pickling spice (rounded)
Preparation
    Mix pickles, water and lime.
    Stir a couple of times and soak 24 hours.
    After soaking, rinse pickles 3 times.
    Add to pickles the vinegar, sugar, salt, celery seed and pickling spice.
    Let set overnight.
    Then cook 35 minutes and jar, open kettle method. Makes about 6 quarts.
