Spiced Mulled Cider - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 qt. apple juice or sweet cider
    1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    2-inch piece stick cinnamon
    1 tsp. whole allspice
    1 tsp. whole cloves
Preparation
    Mix juice (or cider) in large saucepan; add sugar and spices. Heat mixture slowly to simmering.
    Cover pan.
    Simmer 20 minutes; strain.
    Serve hot in warmed mugs.
    Garnish with cinnamon stick or orange wedge stuck with whole cloves, if desired.
    Makes about
    2 quarts.
    Especially good to serve in winter.
