Shoo-Fly Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 c. flour
2 c. light brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 c. boiling water
2/3 c. King syrup
1/3 c. Brer Rabbit dark syrup
2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Mix well flour and brown sugar.
Add shortening and blend. Reserve 2 cups for topping.
Mix in pan boiling water and both syrups, then add baking soda.
Add liquid mixture to crumb mixture.
Blend and pour through sieve to blend.
Pour batter in pan.
Sprinkle with crumb topping.
Bake at 350\u00b0 in a 9 x 12-inch pan for 55 minutes, cupcakes for 35 minutes.
