Hamburger Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 c. diced potatoes
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1 c. shredded cabbage
    1 c. sliced celery
    1/4 c. rice
    3 c. water
    4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 bay leaf
    2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes (run through blender)
Preparation
    Cook ground beef and onion together until lightly browned. Drain off fat.
    Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer.
