Michael'S Christmas Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 3/4 c. light corn syrup
    2 c. whipping cream, divided
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine first three ingredients and 1 cup of the whipping cream in a heavy saucepan.
    Mix well.
    Bring to a boil over medium heat.
    Boil gently for one minute.
    Stir in remaining whipping cream.
    Bring to a boil.
    Boil to soft ball stage (240\u00b0).
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in vanilla.
