Baked Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 small yellow summer squash
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 small onion, chopped
    1/4 c. butter
    pepper and salt
    fresh bread
Preparation
    Cut and steam squash in 1/2 cup water and 1/4 cup sugar. Place squash, undrained, in a good size baking dish.
    Beat egg into milk and pour over squash.
    Saute onion in butter and add. Salt and pepper to taste.
    Mix in torn-up fresh bread to leave little liquid standing.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
    (Good substitute for stuffing.)
