Basic Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 egg yolks (save whites for meringue, beaten yolks)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (9-inch) baked pie shell or graham cracker crust
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients except vanilla in saucepan.
    Cook over medium heat until thick (when filling starts to bubble cook 3 minutes), stirring constantly, as it will stick.
    Cool slightly and stir in vanilla.
    Keep stirred.
    Top with meringue.
    The filling can be used as pudding.
