Grandma'S Sugar Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. margarine and 1/2 cup Crisco, melted
    4 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Beat sugar and eggs until light colored, then add shortening and 1/2 cup of the buttermilk. Place 1 teaspoon of baking soda in the other 1/2 cup of buttermilk.
    It will foam, then add to mixture and beat again. Add vanilla and 2 cups of flour and baking powder. Beat again.
    Add other flour, mixing well.
