Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Make paste with food coloring and cocoa.
    Mix vanilla, salt, buttermilk, flour, vinegar and soda.
    Add shortening mixture, along with paste.
    Do not beat, just blend in.
    Bake 30 minutes in 2 (8 or 9-inch) pans at 350\u00b0. Let cool and split each layer in half.
