Lentil Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. chopped onions
    1/2 c. finely chopped carrots
    1 clove garlic, finely minced
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 c. water
    1/2 c. chopped tomatoes
    1/4 to 1/3 c. lentils, rinsed and picked over
    1 tsp. each: basil and sugar
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    1/4 tsp. each: thyme, salt and hot pepper sauce
Preparation
    Saute onions, carrots and garlic in oil until tender; add remaining ingredients and simmer one hour.
    Serve over hot, cooked pasta.
